Focus: How to stay focused?

You may have the right vision. But without focus, you are not going to reach your full potential. Focus is giving attention to what matters in your life, ignoring what prevents you from ever getting to reach your full potential. It is giving attention to what brings you happiness and greatness whilst keeping yourself free from what can bring prolonged sadness, mediocrity and failure. It is attention to what matters as much as it is doing what matters.

Focus makes all other positive things you might want to add to your endeavours work. It makes the right mindset and the vision you have to work. It is not the fuel for all these components but it channels them towards one objective. It makes whatever energy you have a positive one. Focus gives quality to the effort you put into your work. It unlocks results where impossible.

Do you think you need to stay focused? Here is how you can stay focused:

1. Feed from the right information

There is no way you can stay focused if you feed your brain with thousands of bits of different information. Social Media is one such way to lose focus. You do not need to put into your system a lot of things to process that will derail you from your ultimate goal. Do not scare yourself. Avoid anything that will make you believe that you are too late to deliver results.

Do not panic with the wave. The wave will tell you that the war on the other side of the border will spill over. The wave will tell you that the dollar will crash. The wave will tell you that a degree is no longer useful. Focus on your thing. Feed on the correct information.

2. Keep going forward. Respect those marginal gains.

The journey to success in those steps made sideways, backwards and forward. The journey to success involves starting at the starting line and pulling backwards from it. It is important to notice that even in failure you improve. Well, keep improving. Soon you will become one who deserves success.

Each downturn is the start of a process. A champion in the ring started in the womb. After birth it took him time to stand up on his own. You are one such champion. It took time. It will take time. Focus! You will make it to success.

3. Set practical goals.

Wherever there is a goal. There is a higher chance that it will be followed through. Where the is a goal followed through. There is focus. Set realistic goals. Write them down. Respect them. Write down the means you may think they can be conquered. Pay attention to small details on the effectiveness of your other activities that surround your goals. Observe, for example, what a cold bath is doing to your overall performance.

Remember, a goal is discouraging if it is not doable. But don’t forget to push yourself to your limits.

4. Fight through challenges

Your journey to success is not going to be free of challenges. It is to be free of challenges then it is not a journey to success. Those who have succeeded have done so not because challenged we’re less and less. They succeeded because they fought their way through.

Take charge. No one is going to be there to save you. Cast no blame. Remember you have more power to change yourself than you have to change others. Certainly, you can’t change anyone through blaming him/her for the bad things happening in your life. Pure focus is all about changing yourself and becoming better and better with each minute passing.

5. Don’t quit

Staying at it ensures that you fail more. When you fail more you learn more. The journey to success involves burning in thousands of troubles and coming out alright. Many who do not wish to suffer for success stay without it, or they will go about believing that they are success stories when they are failures.

Stay at it. Do not sleep. When young a Giant African Millipede coils itself and buries in its head in its coils when agitated. This is suicidal. The young millipede does not only lose sight of the dangers around it but it prevents the possibility of ever taking any life-saving measures like fleeing. The millipede may end up being trampled upon by other animals. But again, as time passes, age and experience become part of the deciding factors. Older millipedes do not usually opt to coil themselves up.

Stay at it. Fail. Learn. Life will always give you valuable lessons.

6. There is no reason for you to be derailed

Your ways are not working but that doesn’t mean they will not work. People will tell you about what works and what does not work. They will base it according to their experience, the lies they have been told and to what they know. Tell them you are different. That you are the only person in Planet Earth who calls yourself “me”.

Turn off both the external noise and the internal noise. Do not let intrusive thoughts take down your vision. Do not let anyone discourage you from doing what you must. Focus on the goal.

7. Be focused on positive things

We are all practical. Waking up and watching an array of TikTok videos is practical. It demands that you are focused. But it has nothing to do with getting you to the destination you would want to reach. Focus on the right things because that’s how you can live up to the demands of your purpose. Be aware that it is all about thinking and acting in favour of the destination you would want to reach.

Don’t look at your shadow. Look at the high. Conquer your fear. Have some hope. Try to live up to the demands of what you want to be. Don’t be scared by your past. You are in control of the present. The past is not yours now. You lost it. The future will answer according to how you call it in the present.
