Transformation is the most expensive change you can make at the personal level yet it is for us all, the poor and the rich. But what is transformation?
Transformation is a process of rebirth in which barriers are eliminated and limitless qualities are installed. Transformation is a process of refining the self into a product that your path to success is ready to allow forward passage. Transformation serves a function none other than it can serve. If you need to fulfil and must fulfil, transformation is that which makes it possible.
Writing to Lucilius the ancient philosopher, Seneca describes of his as “not only reformed, but transformed.” He continues; having been transformed does not mean that I should assure myself that “there are no elements in me which need to be changed”. Transformation is not the end of a journey. It is the beginning of a phase in life in which, according to this Stoic “your spirit can see it’s own faults”. It is a gateway to clarity.
Sister, before we go any further, allow me to dip your toes into this backdrop: I have made this topic the final one in this letter because it was inspired by events taking place when I was giving up writing. If you learn from the dates on the margins of this letter you realise that my writing slowed as I approached the end. A few reasons were behind this block. The phone which was supposed to be my pen and paper where it was impractical to be with physical pen and paper, was frequently connected as a hotspot host for a multiplayer offline game.
I was feeling that deep down I needed to stop playing the game. When, however, fellow workmates asked me to play the game I remained quick to hop in as a host and a player. This did not only deplete my time but wasted my battery which required waiting in line for hours or a day before it could recharge. Remember to me a phone was not just a phone. It created the blog’s first 200 articles.
I didn’t give up the game because I didn’t want to turn down my pears. In life we, out of fear of criticism, make poor decisions. This delays the coming of our transformation. But having transformed does not mean that you are no longer prone to poor decisions. Transformation prepares you to follow up a blunder with good action so that it can only turn to be the wisest decision you have made.
Transformation is the process of turning yourself functional. It is a subtle way of understanding energy can’t be stored or is either wasted or put to positive use. Above all transformation puts energy into positive use. It was all I needed to break from the group that grounded me into average performance. I raised my voice to say no to the things I didn’t want. But was ready to take punishing neglection from the former group that I broke out of. My writing improved.
Transformation is a self-inflicted punishment. Through it you give up things unproductive that you feel comfortable doing and thinking about to pursue the painful things that will make you big in the future. Transformation creates and improves your readiness. Through it you are putting yourself into the demands of your journey. We are all gifted with the abilty to transfrom. Either or not we put this ability into use is a matter of choice.
All we are after at each stage in our lives is to bring changes to them. For this change to happen, changes inside us must happen. I recommend that if staying the same is not working, you have to change. In most cases staying the same does not work. A child, for example, must grow, become an adult and age.
In staying the unworking same you miss the chances of ever turning into what works. When missed, chances rarely re-reveal themselves ahead. You don’t stay the same if you wish the outcome to come in new shape.
If you are to bring changes in your life, don’t hesitate. Bring them. There is nothing special about having something special and not getting to put it into practice. Get busy trying, not thinking how best to try.
To transform you need to:
- Believe in yourself and your vision. Believing is willingness. What the heart believes, the mind thinks and the body acts.
- Be committed. Commitment is accepting your responsibilities at levels higher than normal and doing that part that either should have been done by someone or you should blame someone for not doing it.
- Conquer your fears of failure. You do not run from lions. You stand firm because you cannot outrun them. A predator respects anything that does not show qualities similar to its natural prey, that is running away and showing fear. Failure is like that predator. It chases after those who are scared of it.
- Be patient. Patience is waiting for a certain result and outcome without loss of enthusiasm on the laying out and pursuit of goals that you intend to get to success through. Uncertainty, pain, suffering and failure are what you go patience walks you through. It is hard to be patient and stay patient. How can anyone favour uncertainty over certainty? Patience is a true sign of strength. That strength smashes through obstacles and draws you closer to success.
- Not to only have a strategy but to execute it. Strategy is the execution of a well-thought-out and processed way of doing. I believe there is nothing like a strategy that was never implemented.
- Be resourceful. Resourcefulness is the art of avoiding the defeat of dreams by scarcity. It is also one of putting your advantages into use.
